El Tiempo

The patron saint festivities in El Rompido are in honor of the Virgen del Carmen (paton saint of sailors and fisherman), which is celebrated on the 16th of July in Huelva, Andalusia and most of Spain. The obvious connection with the sea makes El Rompido the perfect spot to celebrate.

Since these festivities are celebrated in the summer, there are always hundreds of tourists that join in all of the fun, and the processions along the sea of the Costa de la luz. They also go along the Piedras River (rock river) offering flowers to the Virgen del Carmen. This popular celebration has brought in many tourists since the early 80´s, as well as residents from other nearby municipalities.

Besides the celebration of the Virgen del Carmen, in el Rompido you´ll also find other festivities uch as the Romeras, like the Virgen del Rocio, the feria of Our lady of Rosary, which is celebrated each year in the month of October. The pilgrimage of San Isidro Labrador also takes place in October.
